Hi, I'm Irma 👋🏼
Who am I?
I am Irma, a Computer Science student at NYU Abu Dhabi, originally from a small town in Bosnia and Herzegovina. After finishing my first fall semester at NYUAD, I have realized something clearly: I genuinely enjoy the process of learning computer science; not just in theory, but through practice. I love taking a confusing concept, breaking it down, and turning it into something I can use to solve problems.
I am working toward becoming a software engineer, and while I am still exploring which area I will specialize in, one thing I am certain about is that I love building and improving things. Over the years, I have completed over 35 projects in web and mobile development. My journey began at 12, when I first learned QBasic. Soon after, I got into competitive programming in middle school, solving problems in C++. Since then, I have expanded my skills to include Python, Java, JavaScript, and more.

These days, most of my focus is on:
- strengthening my fundamentals in data structures and algorithms (DSA)
- improving my problem-solving mindset through consistent practice
- staying disciplined with coursework, studying, and exam prep
- building mobile and web app side projects, applying what I learn in DSA to write cleaner and more efficient code
- preparing for internships and future opportunities
FirmaCodes is my way of documenting the ride, sharing what I’ve learned, and hopefully inspiring someone else to code, create, and build a platform of their own one day.
Before FirmaCodes, There Was Litcode
In February 2022, I launched Litcode. My first ever personal blog and project hub, made during my freshman year of high school. It was a baby version of FirmaCodes; simple, but so full of passion.
Litcode was where I posted my early dev blogs, tutorials, and thoughts as I grew as a young programmer. While it is time for something new, you can still explore Litcode’s archived content on GitHub or Medium.
